Shane is deserving of many accolades. Most certainly for the tireless work he does as a representative of notMYkid.org and also for his commitment to exploring the boundaries of his creativity in recovery.
There is, however, one notable feat he's accomplished right here on The Recovery Revolution—Shane's is the Most Read Recovery Story on the site. I believe it's a testament to the many people who love and respect him that flocked here to show their support for all he's done and continues to do to champion the messages of prevention and recovery.
The principal motivation for my creativity: Watching something I created resonate with someone, inspire someone, fascinate someone, make someone laugh, or help someone.
The principal motivation for my sobriety: Originally, it was because I was sick of the train wreck my life had become. Now, it’s my daughter.
My favorite qualities in a person: Humility, authenticity, empathy, a sense of humor, and an adventurous spirit.
What I appreciate most about my friends: How much we laugh together, and the fact that they accept me for who I am.
My main fault: Overreacting, though I’ve made great strides in doing it much less.
My favorite occupation: Public speaking. I love the energy of a live audience.
My dream of happiness: Fulfilling my purpose and possessing the ability to be at peace regardless of whatever the present circumstances may be.
My idea of misery: When those I love are in distress and I am powerless to do anything about it.
My greatest regret: It’s a tie between having hurt others, failing to make the most of the years that have passed me by, and having negatively tampered with my brain chemistry.
My proudest moment: Seeing my daughter learn, grow, thrive, and treat others with love and respect.
Other than myself, who would I like to be? Henry Rollins, Paul McCartney, or Bob Dylan

My drug of (lack of) choice when I was using: Stimulants and opiates.
What I hate most of all: “Hate” is a word I try my best to avoid. That being said, I have an extreme intolerance for anyone who harms children in any way.
The natural talent I'd like to be gifted with: Singing.
How I want to die: At peace and with acceptance of my situation, doing something I love.
My present state of mind: Grateful.
Faults for which I have the most indulgence: Getting too caught up in a feeling.
My favorite motto:
“Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.”
John Lennon / “Beautiful Boy”
